Our Focused Training Is Paying Off

Steve (L) takes 3rd and Ed (R) takes 1st in the March Northwest Precision Steel Series Challenge

Over the past few months, the 6.5 Guys have been focused on learning to read wind conditions. Yesterday we placed top 3. Ed took 1st and Steve placed 3rd after a tie-breaker shoot-off due to tying for 2nd place, in the Northwest Precision Steel Series Challenge. The match was particularly challenging with variable 20-30 MPH winds throughout most of the day.

You don’t have to be an athlete or have an elite military background to do well in this sport. People from varied backgrounds can do quite well if they focus their efforts and maintain a positive outlook.

As illustrated in our Field Training Exercise (FTX) videos, we seek out the most challenging (and often miserable) conditions possible to train in. By stressing ourselves and our equipment, our confidence during matches has increased.

Special thanks to Nick Setting of Ordnance Locker for the photo above.

What I like best about the videos Ed and Steve of the 6.5 Guys create is how generous and humble they are as they impart information to us. This data is expensive in both time and money to learn, and the 6.5 Guys help lower the barrier to entry for us new guys. Resources like this help drive the popularity of our sport and the industry. Thanks 6.5 Guys!
