Match Highlights from UNSC & Rock Lake club matches

UNCMatchThe last few weeks have been pretty busy for the 6.5 Guys. We had the opportunity to participate in two back to back club matches – one at Rock Lake Rifle Club and the other at Upper Nisqually Gun Club.

The match at Rock Lake Rifle Club was particularly challenging as there were targets past 1,200 yards and variable winds from 10 to 20 MPH. Despite these conditions, we both managed a top 10 finish against some stiff competition.

Adding to the challenge at the Rock Lake Club match is the fact that we were designated squad leaders. This didn’t allow us to shoot the amount of video we normally do, but between us and another competitor we got plenty of pictures.

Since we have an abundance of pictures, we’re experimenting with a new format for the video where most of our coverage is in the form of a photo montage. From an instructional standpoint, we believe that the new format will show more shooters in different positions negotiating different props. This might be a better format for the many club matches that are being shot in the pacific northwest. Our viewers will let us know whether this is a good idea or not.

We learned how tough it is to get good video coverage and keep our heads in the game. However, we have a commitment to our audience to provide video coverage of each match. We’re going to purchase another camera which will allow both of us to get more quality video. We have a very active long range match scene in the pacific northwest so there will be much to cover. There is a match almost every weekend within a 5 hour drive during the spring to fall time frame – we are lucky.

Finally, at the end of the video we have some interesting comments from Scott Satterlee about techniques he used to win the Rock Lake match. We’ll apologize in advance for the sound quality – going forward we will include our microphones as part of our standard range gear.
