Mid-Year Update

CalendarWe’re only half way through the year and there have been a number of positive developments as well as some new challenges that we want to share with our audience. Thanks to all of you who periodically check in with us to ask how things are going.

Some of you have noticed that we’ve slowed down a bit on our video releases. We’re alive and well and have been dedicating more of our spare time to shooting. We were spending so much time on the videos and the web site that our shooting performance was starting to degrade. Steve’s job has required extensive travel and Ed has served as a caretaker for his father who recently passed on May 24. Fortunately, we have a lot of great material in backlog that we will be releasing soon. We’ll be covering such topics as bipods, slings, backpacks and ways to speed up the reloading process.

The biggest development so far this year is we have established partnerships with three leading players in the industry: Defiance Machine, JC Steel Targets and RBros Rifles. We’re a bit humbled at how fast this has taken place, but it’s because of our audience and the support we have received – thank you!

We’re also going to be utilizing our Twitter Feed (sixfiveguys) to keep our audience apprised of daily developments. Please be sure to follow us.

This year we also had the opportunity to attend two PRS matches: The JC Steel Challenge and the Silencerco Quiet Riot. The Quiet Riot was the most athletic match we have attended with an elevation of 6500 feet and temperatures of 100 degrees F. Our Density Altitude readings ranged from 9,000 to 10,000 feet.

The Quiet Riot match really highlighted our lack of physical conditioning. If we want to see a step change in our shooting performance and become competitive in matches that are increasingly more athletic, we have to get in better shape. It would be easy to focus on equipment, reloading practices, etc. but there’s a white elephant in the room that we can’t ignore. We don’t want to look like that elephant either.

So before we change our motto from “Old and slow, yet accurate” to “Old, slow and fat” we want to tackle this issue head on. By sharing our objectives with our audience and sharing progress with periodic updates, we will establish a degree of accountability and commitment. In other words, we’ll be thinking about you before we are tempted to indulge in something that will pack on the pounds.

To get to our desired weights, Steve needs to loose 25 pounds and Ed needs to loose 50. Imagine how some of the best shooters would perform with 25 to 50 pounds strapped on their backs? Likewise, we trust that our performance will noticeably improve by shedding the extra weight.

We encourage members of our audience with a similar desire to get back in shape to join us on the journey to better health!
